Course Syllabus

The Deconstruction is a 25 minute longform which opens with a slow paced, realistic scene and proceeds to deconstruct that scene with a handful of faster, comedic scenes. This course emphasizes realistic play, paying close attention to scene content, analyzing scenes while you perform, and performing meaningful, relevant comedy.

The approach of this class comes from Miles Stroth's position play. Position play allows players to recognize the creative role a scene needs them to play and fill it to the best of their ability. The Deconstruction here is a "Training Wheels" version of the form created by Stroth, using position play to illustrate how the Decon is intended to work.
