201 Intro to Game

PREREQUISITE(S): 101 Improv Basics
Course Syllabus

A Game is a pattern which can define a scene, giving it focus and structure. We identify what is funny about a scene and heighten it as much as possible by staying focused on that single comic idea. This course will emphasize listening to clearly identify Games, keeping scenes focused, and heightening Games rapidly out of orbit.

The tools taught here are especially good for anyone interested in North American comedy with fast long form play like that of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and will be particularly good for anyone interested in comedy writing.
