Nicole Ratjen is an international theatre artist born and raised on the West Coast of Canada. As an actor, improviser, and clown, Nicole has worked on productions across Canada and throughout Western Europe.
After receiving her degree from York University in Toronto, Nicole furthered her training at Le École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. Specializing in clown with Phillip Gaulier and further focusing on mask with Familie Floez In Berlin and Teatro Punto in Amsterdam. She studied under the tutelage of renowned mask sculptor Donato Satori at The Center of Mask and Gestural Sculptures in Italy.
Fostering and growing the artistic community is incredibly important to Nicole. As an instructor she has brought her talents to teaching the techniques of theatre such as Improvisation, Mask, Clown, Devised Theatre and classical text. Teaching credits include: Sir Mowat Collegiate Institute Scarborough, The Classical Theatre Project in Toronto, The Design Exchange, The Director’s Lab North, John F Kennedy School in Berlin, Comedysportz Berlin and The Valhalla Institute of Fine Arts in Western Canada.
Starting with her early years at the Canadian Improv Games and Spilt Milk Productions she has since performed improv across Canada. Nicole is currently based in Berlin and can be seen regularly onstage with Comedysportz Berlin and Goodluck, Barbara
Nicole is still attempting to master the art of how to cook the perfect egg.
